Charles Oppenheimer joins NEI's Fissionary podcast
Charles Oppenheimer joined the Nuclear Energy Institute's Fissionary podcast for an episode titled "Growing a Nuclear Legacy." He discussed the distinction between nuclear weapons and nuclear energy, his grandfather's view that postwar cooperation on fissionable material would determine whether nuclear energy delivered its benefits, and why new nuclear construction needs project and infrastructure finance rather than venture capital. He also made the case for building proven designs in sequence, citing the cost reduction from Vogtle Unit 3 to Unit 4. The full episode and transcript are available from NEI.

American Nuclear Society covers Charles Oppenheimer's op-ed in Time
The American Nuclear Society's Nuclear Newswire covered Charles Oppenheimer's op-ed in Time, "Nuclear Energy's Moment Has Come." In the piece, Charles argues that expanded fission energy is a bipartisan answer to climate change and energy security, and that the cooperation J. Robert Oppenheimer called for after the war applies directly to energy today. He cites the rise in US public support for nuclear energy from 38 percent in 2018 to 59 percent, and writes that his grandfather would have supported the expansion of nuclear energy as an answer to the world's energy problems and "a catalyst for peace and unity."
