Who we are
Oppenheimer Energy is a nuclear developer, founded by Charles Oppenheimer. The name carries an obligation, and we take it seriously: to work the way that scientific effort did at its best - science first, collaboration over ego, and honest about the difficult aspects of an industry that has not always been successful.
What we are building is a company with the patience to solve difficult problems and the standards to make sure we do it right. What we believe, why we exist, and who does the work all follow from that.
Why we exist
Nuclear science held out a simple promise from the start: clean, abundant, reliable energy for everyone. For eighty years, this promise has been kept only in part. Closing the gap between what nuclear can do and what it has actually delivered is the reason Oppenheimer Energy exists.
We don't treat the Oppenheimer name as a trophy. It carries real weight, and an honest reckoning with its history is part of who we are. The world remembers this science for one chapter of its past; we are here for the chapter it has yet to write.
The way we work is inherited too. The effort that first split the atom was, above all, a feat of organization - the best minds and partners of its age, brought together and held to a single purpose. We build the same way, with today's best science and clearest thinking, toward a far better end.
What we believe
Six convictions shape how we work.
- Honesty
- We accept the fair criticism of our sector rather than explaining it away, and we build our model to answer it.
- Science first
- We follow the best available evidence and the clearest thinking, wherever they lead.
- Partners over ego
- The best outcome matters more than the biggest role. We would rather convene the right people and share the credit than try to be everything ourselves.
- Discipline
- Confidence is earned, not asserted. The unglamorous work on cost and risk is what gets a project built.
- Safety
- Nuclear demands a culture where safety comes before schedule, and anyone can raise a concern without hesitation.
- Community
- A project is judged by what it does for the grid and for the town around it. We bring communities along, and we invest in the people who will run what we build.
Our letter
